Why St. Pete?
Downtown St. Petersburg, FL, is one of the most artistic places in the world. Nearly every building is covered in beautiful murals, and nearly every person is a unique expression of creativity, many of whom are covered in artwork themselves.
Friedrich Nietzsche often said that your life is a work of art and you should spend your life trying to paint the most beautiful picture with that life. The problem is most everyone who follows his advice feels an existential angst that their life lacks the potency and wonder they long for.
We believe every life is a work of art and that when we hand the paintbrush over to the Divine Artisan to make us into whatever He desires, God will create something beautiful in and through us.
Artisan City Church is a place where we seek to let the Divine Artisan bring beauty from brokenness in St. Pete and beyond
Vision
Beauty from brokenness in St. Pete and beyond.
Mission
Passionately pursuing God's presence, practices, and people as we pour out our lives for the good of others.
FAMILY STORIES
Planting in team: We are convinced that the most effective and [sustainable, biblical, healthy] way for us to plant Artisan City Church is in the context of a team. This means that from day one, we will lead and teach in team.
Chris will serve as the Pastor of Teaching and Vision. Jesus saved Chris out of heroin addiction in 2010 and gave him a taste of the pleasure, goodness, truth, and beauty he’d been looking for his whole life. Ever since then, he's devoted his life to sharing Christ with as many people as possible. He graduated from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School with a Masters of Theological Studies.
The Dews family mission is to love and enjoy God, love and serve each other, and love others by sharing the Gospel and making disciples. For nearly a decade, they have been living this out by doing itinerant ministry around the country, but now God has made it clear the next season of ministry is leading a church in St. Pete.
Chris, Kathleen, Evelyn (3), and Quinn (<1) are leaving everything they’ve ever known in obedience to Jesus because He is worth it!
AJ will serve as Pastor of Teams and Development. AJ was called into ministry at sixteen years old and has worked in youth ministry at churches across the country for eighteen years. AJ graduated from Liberty Theological Seminary with a Masters of Religious Studies and Discipleship.
The Holts believe Philippians 4:13 is true. They trust and believe that no matter the circumstance, anything God asks of you is possible in His power. They have moved across several states, adopted their son, and are planting Artisan City in response to listening to God’s voice and trusting Him to make the way possible.
AJ, Liberty, McKenna (12), Grayden (10), Henleigh (7), and Whitaker (2) are leaving their sending church of ten years in Charlotte to move to St. Pete and see God's vision for Artisan City Church become reality.
